About David Brooks

Award-Winning Journalism Teacher

As a high school journalism teacher in the 1980s, my students’ publications were consistently among the nation’s best. My journalism program was the highest rated and most frequently honored program in the state of Texas. The Edition, a newsmagazine I directed, was rated the best in the state of Texas for five consecutive years. It earned highest national honors from the Columbia Scholastic Press Association and the National Scholastic Press Association, and was awarded the George H. Gallup Award by Quill and Scroll, the International Honorary Society for Scholastic Journalists. In addition, several of my students are now successful journalists and writers.
